ACSS continued their unfortunate decline down a more accessible (ie: bigger-selling) world-dance beat at the expense of compositional integrity. Even other approaches like the guest vocals feel like contrived pop-exotica, doing little to compliment the band's unique instrumental interplay, lacking sorely here, for what still should be a fun, somewhat authentic experience.
I listened to the whole album. I certainly didn't hear enough of an afro influence to warrant the inclusion in the groups name. It's a good album, not exeptional by any means. Where is the "afro". If you like celtic influenced electro pop then this will truly rock your boat. If not.
It's kind of a spacey, celtic, drumming, fiddling, fluting mix that gets the blood pumping.Good album - definitely worth getting. Colossus is such an energetic tune that it's hard to keep still while it's playing.
I bought the MP3 album (love that instant gratification). and started listening to it right away.
I really like this record. Robert Plant does a great job.
It's on permanent rotation now when I listen to music on my laptop. Track 4, Colossus, is a good enough reason for buying the entire album, and I really like Track 7, Life Begins Again, as well.
I like to drum along with it, which makes it a little hard to play while driving. And playing over and over.
I just can't get enough of this group. They have such a unique sound: the name of the group sums it up pretty well. This is an awesome CD like the others.
I was introduced to this music by a coworker and I really like it. I've always been a fan of celtic music, but this is like celtic on espresso. It's very upbeat and truly unique. I highly recommend it - enjoy.
